New acquisitions to go on display in Coventry Archives

We regularly change the displays in Coventry Archives to show some of the most recent acquisitions to visitors. This spring, we will be showing the following:

Wickman Ltd Apprentice Training School

a black and white group photo of men in overalls

Wickman is still a global developer, supplier and manufacturer of multispindle lathes, This is a series of 25 photographs of apprentices from Wickman Ltd Apprentice Training School, donated by the daughter of the teacher A.J. Trigg who taught them all from the 1960s to the 1980s.

Coventry Transport Development

A black and white photo of an old bus with Coventry Corporation Tramways painted on the side

We received this significant donation in July last year.  This collection was created by Peter James Huxford and donated by his parents.  It is a wealth of bus timetables, magazines, books, press cuttings, ephemera and photographs surrounding the development of trams and buses in Coventry dating from the 1890s until 2012.

The bus shown here is a Maudslay Magna and was in service from 1929 until 1938. The enclosed driver's cab and rear platform and staircase were regarded as modern design for the time.

These recent additions will be on display from 25 February until 25 May 2018. Check the opening hours here.
