Home Archives Collections Newspapers and Journals Newspapers and Journals Local newspapers on microfilm dating from 1747 to 2010. Hard copies of Coventry Telegraph are available from 2011 until the present day. Microfilm readers and reader/printer machines are available to use free of charge in the Reading Room during opening hours without appointment. Our collections of news cuttings contain an interesting and varied snapshot of life in the city. Alfred Lowe’s collection is available on microfilm. These cover the period 1859 to 1904 and are a valuable resource of information about local people, buildings, events and companies. Other collections are also available including those compiled by the city’s library service; a particularly good first port of call for the newspapers during the Second World War . Our collection of journals include those relating to schools such as Bablake and King Henry’s as well as companies such as Courtaulds and Alfred Herbert. We also hold an extensive range of journals relating to clubs and societies such as the Guildsman. A selection is kept in the Reading Room but please ask staff for further details as there are many others and newsletters in the reserve stock, available on request.
