British Life and Landscape An important part of the Herbert's visual art collection is the British Life and Landscape collection, started by the gallery's first Art Director, John Hewitt, in the late 1950s. Cathedral tapestry studies by Graham Sutherland This collection shows how Sutherland developed his designs for the Coventry Cathedral tapestry. Godiva The Herbert holds an important collection of artworks relating to the story of Lady Godiva. Peace and Reconciliation The Herbert has been actively developing a collection of art on the themes of conflict, peace and reconciliation. This is an important subject for the museum and for Coventry, reflecting the city's role in promoting peace and reconciliation. Watercolours The Herbert has a fine collection of watercolour paintings, including many topographical views of Coventry and Warwickshire.
