Local Schools Showcase work at the Herbert

The talented students of the Sidney Stringer Multi-Academy Trust are currently showcasing the amazing work they have produced this year at an exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum Studio until 26 June 2017.

Art and design are important subjects within the Trust, allowing students of all abilities to be creative and express themselves visually.

This varied collection of artworks by Sidney Stringer Academy, Ernesford Grange, Riverbank and Radford Primary School students includes stunning paintings, intricate drawings, large 3D sculptures, beautiful textiles, batik work and more.

Wendy Tomes, Executive Principal of the MAT, said:

“This is an exciting opportunity for staff and students in all of the schools to showcase the fabulous work that they have done. We have a lot of talented pupils and we are delighted that the art teachers in the schools have enabled this to happen.”

The exhibition forms part of the Museums & Schools programme at Culture Coventry Museums and runs alongside a project with art students from Sidney Stringer and Riverbank Academies looking behind the scenes at the Herbert. This has been funded by the Department for Education through Arts Council England and is in partnership with the V&A.

Francis Ranford, Director of Audience Engagement for Culture Coventry said:

“We are delighted to be able to work closely with these local schools and to support the students in showcasing their artwork. It is fabulous to give the students an insight into what goes on behind the

scenes at the museum and for them to understand more about the process of creating an exhibition.”
