Easter Holidays: Portraits, Pictures & Props

£2 per child per workshop

Experiment with a different activity every day inspired by artworks from our portraits exhibition; including clay sculptures, royal crowns, dancing dolls and print-making!

All events are drop in and suitable for 3+ unless stated, but all are welcome. 


Portrait Play with Clay    
Saturday 8 April    
Make a face of yourself or someone else using clay and artists tools.

Fabric Faces    
Monday 10 April    
Get creative with fabrics of every colour and pattern to create unique paper plate faces.    

Recycled Reflections (Milk bottle masks with recycled objects as accessories/decoration)    
Tuesday 11 April    
Dive into junk modelling as we make milk bottle masks with a touch of personality and panache.    

Portrait Play with Clay    
Wednesday 12 April    
Make a face of yourself or someone else using clay and artists tools.

UV Face Masks    
Thursday 13 April    
It’s time to shine as you decorate a theatre mask with bright and bold UV paints. Head to our Elements gallery afterwards to test them out under our special UV lights.   

Printed People    
Friday 14 April (bank holiday)    
Learn the art of printmaking and create stunning portraits     

Music Movers     
Saturday 15 April    
Take inspiration from the musical masters in our Face to Face exhibition and create your very own battery powered dancing figure.    

Royal Crowns    
Monday 17 April (bank holiday)    
Adorn yourself with jewels and gems as you make a crown fit for a king or queen.    

Olympic Medals
Tuesday 18 April    
Jessica Ennis-Hill won’t be the only Olympian on show at the museum after you have made a magnificent medal. The only question is will you aim for bronze, silver or gold?

 Wednesday 19 April    
Take inspiration from the musical masters in our Face to Face exhibition and create your very own battery powered dancing figure.    

Amazing Accessories
Thursday 20 April    
Look beyond the faces of the people in our portraits and become inspired by their amazing accessories as you make jewellery that will truly impress.    

Selfie Scenes    
Friday 21 April    
Strike a pose and while we get your picture printed, create your perfect scenery using collage art ready to add yourself into at the end.
