FACETS: Aowen Jin

FACETS welcomes Aowen Jin for the latest in the series of FREE talks with innovative contemporary artists and creative practitioners.

Aowen Jin is a multidisciplinary British-Chinese artist who uses art to engage with communities in the UK and China. She was named by The Times as “one of tomorrow's great artists”. Her work frequently explores social issues, cultural differences and the impacts of change and globalisation on individual people in Chinese society, with the aim of encouraging cross-cultural dialog and understanding. She also frequently works with Chinese communities in the UK to help them interact with other local communities, in order to stimulate cultural exchange and create meaningful long term relationships between local Chinese populations and other ethnic groups.

Aowen is a social commentator for the BBC and regularly comments on issues related to China, and especially the changing role of Chinese women. Her work is often featured in the national and international press, and has been collected by several high profile private collectors, including Her Majesty the Queen, the Horniman Museum, and many other
high profile organisations and individuals.
