Anglo Saxons

There are around 150 Anglo Saxon objects, most of which were excavated in the 1930s from a cemetery at Baginton. Highlights from this material are the Baginton Bowl, square headed brooches, wrist clasps and pottery funerary vessels dating from 600 to 700 AD.

Other objects include an important group of late Saxon wall tiles that came from the first church on the site of the Benedictine Priory endowed by Lady Godiva in 1043. A large oak vat found in Bishop Street dated to around 1000 is on display in the Discover Godiva gallery
