Whitefriars Tours : Heritage Open Days 2017

10.00am, 11.00am, 12.00pm, 2.00pm & 3.00pm

Please arrive 5 minutes before the start of the tour. Once the tour has begun there will be no admittance to the building and you will not be able to join a later tour.

Visit the rarely opened site of Whitefriars monastery which was founded in 1342. All that now survives is the cloisters with a large hall above but it remains a unique and appealing space with a great history. Between 1801 and 1943 Whitefriars was used as a workhouse and then a refuge.  Queen Elizabeth I once addressed the people of Coventry from the oriel window at Whitefriars in the 16th century.

Please note that this site is not a public area and as such has limited accessibility and facilities.  There are no toilet facilities and access is difficult with stairs to negotiate, uneven flooring and there is no seating available during the tour.
