Archival Adoption Scheme Launches

Coventry Archives has launched their 'Adopt a Collection' scheme which offers the opportunity to forge a personal association with a chosen item from our collection and help safeguard it for the future.

2018 marks ten years since the History centre opened its doors when all of the historical resources came together in one space.  Saturday 15th of September saw the relaunch of the History Centre under its new name Coventry Archives.  This day also saw the announcement of the ‘Adopt a Collection’ scheme.  During the day around 250 visitors had an opportunity to view original items from the selected archive and local studies material that are available for adoption.

Patrons of the scheme will get:

  • A personalised certificate sent in the post
  • A customised archive notice placed inside the preservation box which houses the item for the period of one year upon signing up for adoption
  • A photograph together with a mention in the Culture Coventry trust internal and external newsletter
  • A special tour for a small group of both our Conservation/Archives store

Through adoption, this rich heritage will continue to be preserved and made accessible for generations to come.  Adoption will also enable expansion of our digitisation program in order to encourage learning and discourse of Coventry heritage on a greater scale.

Anyone can choose from some of the archive/local study collections located here. For a full list of all collections, please ask a member of Coventry Archives staff.
